Planting Hedges
Here we look at planting hedges around the boundary fence line. The aims are to create hedges that compliment wildlife as well as give a physical barrier to the property. By using native hedge species such as Hawthorn and Blackthorn we can extend the natural hedges that occur around us into the property. This acts like a hedge highway allowing species of birds and insects to come into the garden.
Both Hawthorn and Blackthorn have useful autumn berries and the spring flowers make a welcome sight for the busy gardener and the gathering bees.
The following diagram shows the boundary plan and how we are planting it out.
